Thinking back to the 2004 World Series....I skipped class every night and went to Elroy's to watch the games and sucked down some beers, dancing on the tables after the last out was made (even though there weren't many of us in the bar). Feeling so excited the next day and many days after, I couldn't stop smiling, purchasing the SI for the week and the USA Today that had the Sox on the front page.
Fast forward to 2007....As I'm sitting on the couch in my living room last night, all alone in the dark because Jarrett had gone to bed, he could have cared less! If it didn't involve his beloved CUBS, then he wanted nothing to do with it. If fact, earlier in the night he yelled at me for yelling at the TV when Lowell made a great snag! I thought to myself, what a difference 3 years makes. I'm a LOSER now, sitting on my couch watching the game all by myself! WTF!! What 27 year old sits at home to watch what could be the series clinching game of the 2007 WORLD SERIES!! And I should also mention that less than 1/4 mile downt he road is a little hole in the wall bar that is OWNED by Bostonians!!! I'm sure I could have found some Red Sox fans in there, but nope, I stayed at home on my couch! HOW BORING HAVE I BECOME!!!
I will say that the first time Jarrett and I went into this bar we were appaled (sp) because there were PATRIOTS posters on the walls, we were like WTF, you're in Colts country now, but then we later found out that they were from Boston so it made sense, but it's STILL NOT OK!!
In any event, I don't find myself as giddy as I was that day in 2004, but it's still a good thing, I'm glad it's over, I don't have to stay up until the whee hours of the morning (since my bedtime is like 9pm) again, reinforcing the fact that I'm a loser, to watch the games!! I will say I've asked Jarrett for another WS Red Sox jersey framed for XMAS, his response, "well you know you're not going to get one of those every time your team wins." So jealous, it's pathetic. WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR CUBBIES!! GO SLOBS!!!
